Wazee Lake

1 1Located in Black River Falls Wisconsin, Wazee was an open pit taconite mine.  The pit has since filled with crystal clear water and the DNR has stocked it with many species of fish.  This dive site is a favorite for divers who enjoy the unique underwater terrain with ledges, walls, boulders, and submerged forests.  Divers can enjoy shallow plateaus with an abundance of fish life, or with advanced training may visit the steep drop offs and extended range depths to 300 ffw.  Visibility ranges from 30 - 50 feet.  Temperatures in the shallows range from 60-70 degree F, below the thermocline temperatures range 40-50 degree F. 

Distance from Maple Grove is apx. 130 miles East, and apx. 2 1/2 hour travel time.  Wazee is part of the Jackson County Park System and is well maintained with picnic tables and privys.    There are many campgrounds and hotel / motels in the area.  This is a great location for the entire family.
