Basic Scuba Lessons

Aquaventure Dive & Photo Center was built for our students convenience with an onsite pool, classrooms, and one of the largest selections of retail equipment in the Midwest.  Students are trained in the newest and highest quality dive equipment by the nations most qualified scuba instructors.  Students may choose from several training agencies, however Aquaventure Dive & Photo Center recommends PADI training as the most comprehensive and up to date.  Our dedicated staff will also help you select a complete diving system so you may enjoy the full benefits of scuba diving.

Whether you are curious about the underwater world, need a scuba refresher, or are ready to explore and enjoy a new adventure, basic lessons provide many ways to experience the underwater realm.

Basic Lessons

Snorkeling (Ages 4 up)

Snorkeling is an activity the whole family can enjoy.  Learn the tips and techniques of successful snorkeling in one fun and easy pool session.  The importance of selecting the right equipment and how to wear it for maximum performance.   You will also learn how to prevent your mask from fogging, keep water out of the snorkel, practice techniques on how  to dive underwater and see things close up, all this and more.  Quality adult and Jr. equipment is provided, all you need is a suit and towel.  Pool is on site for your convenience.   Private Classes are available  

Cost $25 per person (approximately one hour).


Discover Scuba (Ages 10 & up) or Bubblemakers (Ages 8 to 10)

Do you know someone who would like to try scuba?  This is a great opportunity for those who want to see if it's as fun and easy as it looks.  Try scuba in our pool with an instructor.  Equipment is provided, all you need is a suit and towel.  Bring a friend or organize a group splash party. 

Bubble Maker is the same as the Discover Scuba but for ages 8-10. With instructor approval, may join adult event.

Cost $25 per person

Need minimum of 2 students to schedule a trial, or one person pay for a private lesson.  Call the store for class times and dates.  (763) 424-8717


SASY (Ages 5-7 yrs)

1A SASY (Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth) unit is a specially designed vest which holds a small air cylinder and regulator.  The vest is buoyant and will not allow the youth to submerge.  Designed for youth ages 5-7, it introduces young children to the experience of breathing from a regulator while looking at the world underwater.  Dates are reserved for ages 5 - 7

 with special games and activities planned.  SASY parties, private and or family sessions are available in our indoor pool.

Cost $20 per person ( $15 for repeat sessions )

Seal Team ( 8-12)

This is a great way to keep future divers 8 - 12 active by enrolling them into a fun and exciting new series of underwater activities - Seal Team.  After kids have had a chance to try scuba with the Discover Scuba or Bubblemaker program they are ready to sign up for Seal Team.  There are four-levels to this program. This program is taught using educational materials developed specifically for this age group. It's an awesome opportunity for your child to learn about the underwater world! Get them off the couch and away from those video games! Start their adventure today!

Birthday Party &  Special Events (Ages 8 up)

 Birthdays, graduations or other special events... If you are looking for a new exciting activity for your kids and their friends, try our Bubblemaker Parties.  It is a one hour activity in the pool to enjoy scuba diving or snorkeling with a qualified instructor (plan for two hours with application forms, changing, set-up, etc. Pool time is approximately one hour).  Bubble maker parties can be scheduled for weekday evenings or weekends.   The cost is $25 per child, or $200 for ten kids and each additional $20.

SCUBA Certifications

Beginning Scuba Lessons Part 1 (Ages 10 – 13) Classroom Review / Pool Skills

Because Youth require special attention in Scuba Lessons, and due to International Internet Laws regarding PADI eLearning, we require youth to enroll in private lessons or semi private lessons with a family member(s). 

They will complete the same format for Part 1 as adults, however they will receive more direct supervision and attention.  Youth ages 10 – 12 are required to complete the PADI text book version of home study, age 13 may participate in eLearning with parental and Instructor approval. 

When a Jr. Diver (ages 10 – 14) has completed the full scuba certification course, they are eligible to upgrade to an adult certification on their 15th birthday.

Open Water Scuba Certification is taught in two parts:

Open Water Dives
Upon completion of both parts you will be certified as an Open Water Scuba Diver.Going Under Dive Centers Private Pool for your On-site convenience and comfort

Review Basics: Classroom Review of your eLearning is minimal since you complete most of the academic portion in the comfort of your own home with the most modern instructional systems available.

Pool:  Using only the newest and best quality scuba equipment, you will practice and master real skills that you will need as a diver.  

POOL PRACTICE! - Need more time or confidence, it's FREE - Our on site pool allows us to offer you all the time it takes to feel like a pro in the water.


When you are ready to start, consider the options for your basic training:

  • Private Lessons offers the greatest in personal attention.  You can train directly with one of our professional instructors 1 on 1.  Flexible scheduling, individual instruction to meet your personal needs, and guarantees you accomplish your goals! 

  • Semi Private.  Invite a couple of your friends to join you and turn your private lesson into a semi private.  Allows flexible scheduling, and you limit the group size.

  • Small Group Lessons.  You will join 5-10 other divers in a group session offered on select day, evening or weekends dates.

Jr. Divers ages 10 - 13 must take Private or Semi Private with Family Members.

Note: You will be asked to provide 2 head/shoulder ID size photos, and purchase of personal fitting Mask, Fins and Snorkel.   Both Part I and Part II course fee includes use of scuba equipment.  Swimsuit, Towel not furnished.

  1. Start by clicking on the PADI eLearning link for Online Study and enjoy the most modern training available from anywhere you can log on to your computer.  If you require a traditional text book kit, you will need to stop by the store and pick it up prior to class start date.

  2. Call us by phone 763-424-8717 to register for an upcoming class date.

  3. Prior to class start date stop by to pick up your supplemental file folder for eLearning, and let our friendly, knowledgeable staff assist you in choosing a Mask, Fins and Snorkel package tailored to your diving style.  You may also preview or select a complete scuba package at this time.


   Beginning Scuba Lessons Part 2 Open Water Dives

Open Water Dives:  After completing Part I, you'll make four open water scuba dives with your instructor.  We offer open water dives locally from May until October, or you may join us on all of our tropical dive trips.  Part 2 of your SCUBA certification includes doing four scuba dives in an open water environment ( lake, quarry or ocean) with a professional scuba instructor.  Rental equipment is provided if you have not already purchased a Total Diving System 

If you already have travel plans, we can furnish you with a referral form to complete your dives almost anywhere in the world with another Scuba instructor, fee vary by location.

 

  

CERTIFICATION COST PART ( I I ) OPEN WATER DIVES

Small Group: $175 Your 4 dives will be arranged in conjunction with your class and will be off1ered locally.  Includes:  Certification processing form, log book, scuba gear.

Private:  $495 ( 1 person)  $425 ( 2 persons) $395 ( 3 persons)

Note: Both Part I and Pat II course fee incudes use of scuba equipment. It does not include mask, fins, and snorkel.

HOW TO SIGN UP:    You can register and pay for your Open Water Part II course over the phone, however we encourage you to visit us at Aquaventure.  If you have not purchased a Total Diving System you will need to be fitted for rental gear that you will transport to the dive site and return upon completion of training dives.

 

 


GUARANTEE: Your training will include as much pool time as necessary for you to be comfortable in the water.  Be prepared to plan extra pool or class sessions if necessary to complete your training.  If you enjoy water, have at least an average swimming ability, a positive attitude, complete your home study, and attend all class sessions, we will do whatever we can to ensure that you are comfortable and confident in the water.  

CANCELLATION POLICY:  To keep class sizes small we require all class fees due when you register,  payment guarantees your space.   Your class fees are non-refundable within 14 days of the class starting date.  If you require a change or transfer of class dates, you may do so up to 7 business days prior to course start date for a $50 transfer fee. All course fees are forfeited if you do not attend.
