Rebreather Training, Rebreather Sales, and Rebreather Travel is what we do.  The entire staff at Going Under Dive Center GUDC SCUBA is dedicated to helping you enjoy the benefits of Rebreather diving and will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have.  Going Under offers the following rebreathers on site for training and sales: Megalodon, Mini-Megalodon, KISS Classic, KISS Sport, Inspiration, Evolution, rEvo, Azimuth, Drager Dolphin, and Drager Ray.  Instructors onsite at Going Under Dive Center can provide local training or training abroad, all you have to do is call or email us for the next available class.

Congrats Ozzey!

Join me in congratulating Mike Oswald "Ozzey" of Scuba Dive and Travel for completing his Ambient Pressure Inspiration/Evolution rebreather instructor course this week at Wazee.  Mike did a great job and is looking forward to certifying all of you divers out there waiting to get into rebreathers.  Way to go Mike!

Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver Level I

(KISS, Sport KISS, Inspiration, Evolution, Optima)

CCR Level I  6 hours classroom session, 2 hours prep set up. First classroom is paperwork, waivers, review text, and equipment preparation.   3 hour pool orientation.  Open water 4 days minimum 500 minutes water time,  6 training dives  . Pre-study workbook  required.   Required Text:  TDI / IANTD  Rebreather specific text, Understanding Rebreathers - J. Bozanic, IANTD DVD Dituri Rebreather FUNdamentals

CCR pool experience, last apx. 1 hours $60 -optional not required with full certification course

Cost of class, pool, open water dives locally, and certification fee $1200 (minimum of 2 student - private rates available -please ask)

Rebreather rental available for students who are not purchasing a unit at time of class.   Gas fills, chemical, student transportation, personal scuba equipment, and others not included.

Reservations  To reserve your course requires a 50% deposit, balance due first day of class.  All dates not reserved 4 weeks in advanced are subject to cancellation.

*       Prerequisite Advanced Nitrox  students with basic nitrox level can take Advanced Nitrox concurrently with ccr training

Trimix CCR  ( Inspiration/Evolution / Megalodon  / KISS / Optima )

Closed Circuit Rebreather Trimix Training   This program is designed to train divers in the safer use and technology of a unit specific CCR for dives with extended decompression, using helium-based gas mixtures to depths of 200 FSW.  Divers with open circuit Trimix certification may proceed to Level III without this level.

Level II Prerequisites: 

  1. Must be qualified as a Level I CCR diver

Program Limits

  1. One stage cylinder must be carried for bail-out and as backup of Diluent

  2. No dives conducted depths greater than 170 fsw

  3. Limited decompression ( max 25 min )

  4. FO2 minimum 20% and no more than 30% Helium in Diluent mixture

This program includes a confined water session prior to a minimum of 6 dives using CCR with Normoxic mixture, Three dives may use EANx or Air mixtures for dives of 90 fsw or shallower.

Divers already qualified as Normoxic Trimix Divers must complete all CCR specific lectures and skills plus make 4 dives using Normoxic Diluent gas.  Three dives must be deeper than 90 fsw.

Level III

Full Trimix CCR  ( Inspiration / Megalodon CCR / Classic KISS / Optima )

Closed Circuit Rebreather Trimix Training   This program is designed to train divers in the safer use and technology of a unit specific CCR for dives with extended decompression, using helium-based gas mixtures to depths of 330 FSW. 

Level III Prerequisites: 

  1. Must be qualified as a Rebreather Diver, and Normoxic Trimix Diver or previously certified as an open circuit Trimix Diver.  Diver previously certified open circuit Trimix may omit Level II CCR

  2. Must provide proof of a minimum of 200 dives, and at least 50 logged hours of dive time on CCR, with at least 25 dives that included required decompression stops.

  3. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

Program Limits

  1. PO2 set-point may not be set higher than 1.3 during working portion of dive, nor higher than 1.4 during decompression.

  2. No training dives may be conducted to depths greater than 260 fsw.

Program must include a confined water session prior to 4 dives using CCR with helium based gas mixtures.  All of the dives must be deeper than 165 fsw.

Tech Instructor Trainer Ron Benson is constantly seeking new challenges, improving his knowledge and skills.  Ron travels regularly to meet with other industry experts and stay on top of the ever changing market of diver training. Whether it is open circuit or closed circuit experience you desire, you can be sure that Ron has the tools you need.

Instructor Level Training


SodaSorb Absorbent is manufactured by W. R. Grace & Co. who is the largest manufacturer of CO2 absorbent in the world. It is available in two grades for the diving industry. The 4-8 mesh grade is used in rebreathers with higher "Work of Breathing" WOB or in situations were shorter dives are planned. The 6-12 mesh grade is used in rebreathers where the WOB is more efficient and longer durations are required.
